What is Screen Detection & How Does It Work?

Window Management API & Topology

Uses the modern Window Management API to identify every connected physical display, exact desktop coordinates (X, Y), and orientation.

Real Refresh Rate (Hz) & DPI

Measures real refresh rate using `requestAnimationFrame` delta sampling and calculates Device Pixel Ratio (DPR) for high-density Retina, 2K and 4K displays.

Color Depth & HDR Gamut

Inspects color gamut profiles (sRGB, Display P3, Rec. 2020), High Dynamic Range (HDR) support, and GPU color bit depth.

Quick Usage Guide

  1. Haz clic en "Detectar Pantalla / Monitores" y acepta el permiso del navegador si tienes múltiples pantallas conectadas.

Fix secondary monitor not detected, 60 Hz lock, fuzzy text scaling, and mirrored display topology.

Issue 1: Second monitor not detected (Black screen / No Signal)

Quick User Solution

Press `Win + P` and select 'Extend'. If screen remains black, restart your graphics driver instantly with `Win + Ctrl + Shift + B`.

In NVIDIA/AMD Control Panel > Set up multiple displays, enable the undetected display and force EDID detection. Ensure your USB-C port supports DisplayPort Alternate Mode (DP Alt Mode).

Issue 2: Display locked at 60 Hz instead of 144 Hz / 240 Hz

Quick User Solution

Go to Windows Settings > System > Display > Advanced display settings. In 'Choose a refresh rate', change 60 Hz to 144 Hz or your panel's maximum rating.

Many monitors limit HDMI ports to 60/120 Hz under older HDMI specs. Switch to a certified DisplayPort 1.4 or HDMI 2.1 cable, and enable 'DP 1.4 / Overclocking' in the monitor physical OSD menu.

Issue 3: Blurry text or scaling glitch across mixed-DPI screens

Quick User Solution

Align scaling factors: Windows resamples bitmaps when moving between 150% (4K) and 100% (1080p) panels. Relaunching the app on the target monitor refreshes crisp DPI rendering.

Right-click the app shortcut > Properties > Compatibility > Change high DPI settings > check 'Override high DPI scaling behavior' and set scaling performed by 'System (Enhanced)' or 'Application'.

Issue 4: Displays mirror each other and cannot extend

Quick User Solution

Press `Win + P` and choose 'Extend'. In macOS go to System Settings > Displays > select the external monitor and change from 'Mirror' to 'Extended Display'.

Cheap passive HDMI splitters duplicate the same physical stream. Connect each monitor directly to separate GPU ports or use a DisplayPort MST (Multi-Stream Transport) certified dock.

Until 2010, one CSS pixel mapped 1:1 to a physical screen pixel. High-DPI screens revolutionized rendering: a single logical CSS point now utilizes 4 (DPR = 2) or 9 physical subpixels (DPR = 3) for razor-sharp typography.

Why 60 Hz and Not 70 Hz or 100 Hz?

The 60 Hz standard originated in early CRT televisions, where electron beam sweeps synchronized with the 60 Hz AC power grid in North America to prevent hum bars and visual electrical ripple.

8-Bit (16.7M) vs 10-Bit (1.07 Billion Colors)

Standard 8-bit displays produce 256 shades per RGB channel (16.7M colors). Modern 10-bit HDR panels produce 1,024 shades per channel, rendering 1.07 billion colors to eliminate gradient banding.

4K UHD is Actually Four 1080p Screens

Commercial 4K UHD resolution is 3840 × 2160 pixels. It packs exactly four times the pixels of a 1080p Full HD monitor (8.29 million pixels vs 2.07 million pixels).
